“Gingerbread” Doghouse Contest and Fundraiser
Benefitting Operation Pets Alive
With the holidays soon approaching, the Houston City Place Marriott is preparing to ring in the season with a
Christmas TAIL – a gingerbread/edible DOGHOUSE contest and fundraiser. We hope you’ll support this four-
legged take on a holiday favorite with a whimsical creation that will be auctioned off to benefit a very special
cause.
With you and your culinary team’s support, we aim to get a leg up on fundraising efforts for our partner,
Montgomery County-based pet rescue non-profit Operation Pets Alive.
On Tuesday, December 5th, the hotel will host a holiday cocktail party in the lobby featuring a silent auction of
the houses to raise “bones” for Operations Pets Alive. A panel of media and VIP judges will choose the winners,
and prizes will be given for traditional gingerbread as well as innovative edible materials categories. First and
second place winners will both receive prize packages including overnight stays at the hotel.
Rules:
- The entry must include a doghouse in the design.
- The base may not exceed 2’ x 2’, and small and detailed submissions are just as welcome as large and showy.
- Please use a base that will easily allow for transportation by the winning bidder.
- The majority of the house and décor must be made of edible materials.
- Small supports may be used.
- All entries must be delivered to the Houston City Place Marriott (1200 Lake Plaza Dr, Spring, TX 77389) by Thursday, November 30, where it will be displayed to the public ahead of the event.
- While we would love for you to attend the event, we understand if that’s not possible due to scheduling.
We appreciate the time and effort that will go into a build and will make every effort to make this a worthwhile
endeavor in terms of potential brand exposure. You will be highlighted in event marketing activities including:
- Posts on three social media accounts: City Place, Houston City Place Marriott and Stay City Place
- Items in the twice monthly City Place newsletter
- Coverage in the monthly City Place event flier
- Exposure on the City Place website event calendar
- Inclusion in a pre-event press release as well as post event media outreach with event and submission photos
- Paid social posts and potential online advertising
Space is limited, so please let us know as soon as possible if you think your bark is as big as your bite. If you are interested in supporting the event but unable to create a doghouse submission, we would also welcome a gift certificate for our event raffle.
