A highly anticipated update on Venus is here! But first, we’d like to thank you all for the donations, the shares, comments, likes and interactions that made her story reach the masses.
Venus Update
As a quick reminder, here’s Venus before our GivingTuesday fundraiser funded her much needed surgery:
This was Venus. Unfortunately, this was not a silly look but rather a severely broken jaw. What the picture doesn’t show is the mangled bones that were inside her mouth.
Venus ended up at a local shelter with a severely broken jaw and in severe pain. With the support of the community, OPA was able to fund her surgery in November and she is now healed! During her recovery she was on a special diet as she couldn’t move her jaw much to chew, and her amazing foster made her delicious puppy smoothies.
Venus’s lower jaw was completely detached from all the soft tissue of her mouth, but her surgery was a success and both broken sides of her lower jaw were reconnected, and the front part of her jaw was put back to the proper placement and her gum tissue was reconnected back onto the bones!
Venus has a small scab that is still healing from surgery, but she is a happy girl nowadays, eating normally and looking for her furever family! Yes, that’s right – this girl is AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION!

Fosters Needed
The donations made Venus’s surgery possible, but without her amazing foster Destiny, she would have not been able to have the surgery in the first place. She needed a home to recover in. But not all fosters need surgery, some are easy and just need a warm home with loving people to teach them manners and help them find their furever families. Here’s a few needing just that:
Dash, Aja, and Sugar Bear are just three siblings from a litter of five needing a new foster. They are 9-month-old German Shepherd/Husky mixes.
The pups have been together since birth and really need to be separated so they can find their own special personalities. They are all crate trained and have been spayed/neutered. They have been outside dogs so they will need some patience with potty training. All are shy around new people so there will be an adjustment period. Please consider taking one of these pups into your home and showing them the love and attention they deserve.
Please contact Diane at dianefitz3101@gmail.com, if you can foster. Unsure? Learn more about fostering with OPA by clicking here.
