🎉 Happy New Year, OPA Family! 🎉
As we welcome 2025, we’re filled with gratitude for the incredible support you’ve shown throughout 2024. This month’s newsletter is packed with exciting updates and heartfelt stories, including the record-breaking results of our End of Year Fundraiser, highlights from our TNR team’s amazing work, and the success of our annual Gift Wrapping fundraiser!
We’ll also share details about upcoming adoption events, an exciting Save the Date announcement, honor the people and pets recognized during the End of Year fundraiser, and introduce you to a sweet puppy in urgent need of help as he battles a severe eye infection.
Closing Out 2024 in an Incredible Way
We are thrilled to share the results of our End of Year Fundraiser! Thanks to your overwhelming support and generosity, we surpassed all expectations. Our goal was to raise $22,000, with a matching donation doubling it to $44,000. But you didn’t stop there. By the end of December, including the match, we raised more than $60,000 for homeless animals in need!
Your contributions will have a tremendous impact, allowing us to continue providing lifesaving care, shelter, and second chances to animals throughout Montgomery County. Please continue to scroll our newsletter to see the people and pets honored during this fundraiser!
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who donated, shared, and supported this fundraiser. Your generosity changes lives, and we can’t wait to see how much more we can accomplish together in 2025!
Several of our recent donors have donated in honor and memory of their loved ones and pets. We’d like to share their names with you now to continue to honor their memories and celebrate those that are still with us!

TNR: Making a Difference for Community Cats
Our incredible Trap, Neuter, Return (TNR) team consists of 6 trappers from 3 rescue groups working together, and boy have them been hard at work this year!
- 874 cats spayed/neutered and vaccinated under OPA
- 430 cats spayed/neutered and vaccinated through Bruce Kapp Memorial Animal Fund, led by Jane Holman
- 100+ cats spayed/neutered and vaccinated at TLC
That’s over 1,404 cats in total who received care in 2024! The TNR’s team goal for 2025? Double these numbers to make an even greater impact in our community!

That’s a Wrap!
We are wrapped up with you to announce that we brought in more than $17,000 during our 12 Days of Wrapping event at The Woodlands Mall! This marked the 11th year of our gift wrapping fundraiser and a BIG thank you to our amazing OPA, NCL, and NCR volunteers who made it possible. We served approximately 700 guests and wrapped nearly 1,900 packages!
Dean’s Special Request
A couple of months ago, foster Courtney B. was brave enough to take in a pregnant mama that had ten babies! Early on, the litter faced respiratory issues, crusty eyes, and corneal ulcers. Thankfully, with the loving care of Courtney and our amazing medical coordinator, Candice C., all the puppies pulled through.
Unfortunately, one of those sweet pups, Dean, is now facing a serious challenge. Last week, his eye began to swell, and despite swift action and a referral to an ophthalmologist, his condition worsened suddenly on Wednesday. Thanks to Candice’s determination, Dean has an appointment this morning (Friday) at 9:30 a.m.
We’re asking for your positive thoughts and prayers for Dean and his foster mom Candice. If you’d like to help with Dean’s medical expenses, please consider donating through our website. Thank you for being part of Dean’s journey. Together, we can give him and others like him the chance they deserve!
