September Newsletter: Serve Aces for Animals at the Coco Classic & Help Rico Heal!

Calling all tennis fans! If you missed the cut for the U.S. open, consider playing in the 2nd Annual Coco Classic Tennis Tournament!

This fun fundraiser will be Saturday November 9, at Bear Branch Park in The Woodlands. Singles and teams of all skill levels are welcome to sign up. If you’re not keen on playing, we have sponsorship opportunities available! New for this year will be the opportunity to have your company in front of our newsletter audience and on our website.

All proceeds will benefit OPA and the animals we care for! See all the details for playing or sponsoring here.

Meet Rico! Can you believe this cutie was posing for pictures just days after being thrown out of a car window in front of the shelter? His high spirits before his surgery to repair his broken hind leg, while also having a broken pelvis, are testament to just what a safe and loving foster home can do for an animal!

We have received an outpouring of support for help in Rico’s medical expenses, but as of Thursday evening (9/4), we are still short about $1,500. One of our amazing Facebook followers has graciously pledged to donate a further $500 to our cause when our Facebook post reaches $1,500 in donations.

Please consider donating to Rico’s medical expenses through our Facebook post here. If you’d like more details on this little man’s care, see a great update we shared for him in August here.

If you’d rather donate through our website, you can do that here:

August Adoption Highlight

These beautiful, bonded girls first came to us in June 2022. A failed adoption (due to developed allergies) had them spending 6 months out of the program, but their foster was thankfully able to take them back into her home.

In August, the cat distribution system decided these girls needed to leave Texas and our wonderful transport coordinator and volunteers made it happen! Our amazing volunteer flyers journeyed from Chicago to escort them on their way to their new home in Seattle. A big thank you to all of the volunteers involved in making this happen, and so much thanks to their amazing foster, Andreea!

Foster Feature: SEPTEMBER

It’s September! No, not the month, the good boy!

September is a 60-pound pittie who thinks he’s a lap dog. He is super affectionate and loves giving kisses and snuggling. He is fully house trained and knows several commands. September would make a fabulous family dog, but due to his high energy, would be best in a home with no cats or small dogs. He was recently diagnosed with an enlarged heart condition, but is able to do all the things with no restrictions! This guy has been through a lot, but it is not keeping his spirits down. Please give him a chance to be your most loyal companion!

Interested in meeting or adopting September? Submit an application on our website (no obligation to adopt) with his name and ID D230597: https://operationpetsalive.org/programs/adopt/

Not looking to adopt, but ready to open your home for a short time to an animal in need? Please TEXT Rebecca at 254-317-6132 or email rebecca@operationpetsalive.org if you can foster. Whether it’s a dog or cat, we have an animal you can help today! Unsure? Learn more about fostering with OPA by clicking here.

Eight adorable pups hit the road to a new transport partner in Illinois! We need to raise about $250 per puppy (plus processing fees) to cover their travel and health expenses. Any extra received will go towards getting our next set of pups on the road and keeping our transport program wheels turning!

Please consider donating to help cover expenses their new chapter in Illinois. Every dollar counts towards getting our puppies one mile closer to their furever homes!

And of course, here are some pictures of the lucky pups who received their golden tickets to go on transport!
