Operation Pets Alive (OPA) is proud to recognize the support of the Montgomery County Community Foundation (MCCF). Last fall, MCCF awarded OPA a $7,000 grant to expand essential programs that provide medical care and reduce pet overpopulation.
Thanks to MCCF’s generosity, OPA has been able to:
- Provide critical medical care to foster dogs and cats rescued from local shelters such as Montgomery County Animal Shelter (MCAS) and Conroe Animal Shelter (CAS). This care includes spay/neuter surgeries, vaccinations, deworming, microchipping, and treatments for skin and other medical conditions.
- Support public low-cost spay and neuter services in partnership with groups like Lone Star Animal Welfare League, ensuring families across Montgomery County can access affordable veterinary care while helping reduce pet overpopulation.
- Advance Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) initiatives to humanely manage and improve the well-being of the community’s outdoor cat population.
“This was the first year Operation Pets Alive applied for support from the Montgomery County Community Foundation, and we are deeply grateful for their commitment to improving the lives of both people and pets in our community,” said Deidre Northcott, Treasurer of Operation Pets Alive. “Their partnership allows us to continue building a future where every animal has a chance at health, safety, and a loving home.”
Montgomery County Community Foundation has a long history of supporting organizations that enrich the quality of life for Montgomery County residents. By funding OPA’s medical care and spay/neuter programs, MCCF is making a lasting impact on families and animals throughout the community.

About Operation Pets Alive
Operation Pets Alive (OPA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, all-volunteer organization striving to elevate Montgomery County to a No-Kill community through innovative programs that raise community awareness, reduce the number of dogs and cats who enter our shelters and increase the number of dogs and cats who leave our shelters alive.
At OPA, we depend entirely on volunteers to implement our life-saving work. Each year, we rescue thousands of homeless pets, and impact the lives of hundreds more through our Core Programs. All thanks to countless volunteer hours. Join us and learn how you can make a difference in the lives of the homeless animals of Montgomery County by visiting operationpetsalive.org or following us on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
